In 2024, Ipswich Grammar School will begin operating its very own childcare and Kindergarten – IGS Early Learners – providing an exciting educational offering for up to 100 young Ipswich children.

Located adjacent to the School, IGS Early Learners will cater for children of any gender from six weeks of age to kindergarten across three purpose-built learning spaces and engaging outdoor spaces.

The centre will be a place where children feel safe, secure and respected, enabling them to learn, explore and grow in confidence.

Backed by a name people know and trust, IGS Early Learners will provide high standards and levels of care, emulating the educational philosophy and reputation of Ipswich Grammar School, said Headmaster Richard Morrison.

“It’s a momentous occasion for our community and Ipswich and will provide an enriched start in life for those children able to attend,” he said.

The educational program will seek to develop children holistically during their early years through a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically.

IGS Early Learners will operate for 50 weeks of the year, five days a week from 6.30 am to 6.00 pm. There will be three main learning environments, catering for the different ages and stages of children in care:

  • 0-2 years in Nursery
  • 2-3 years in the Toddler Room
  • 3-5 years in Kindergarten

The inaugural Director of IGS Early Learners will be Ms Tammy Lamont, who has decades of experience in opening and managing childcare centres, along with professional qualifications in Children’s and Community services and soon, Psychological Science.

“At the heart of our program lies the belief that children are unique individuals with diverse learning styles, strengths and interests,” said Tammy. “We recognise that early experiences shape lifelong attitudes towards learning, and we will strive to create an atmosphere where children become:

  • Successful learners;
  • Confident and creative individuals; and
  • Active and informed citizens.

“In providing care, our team will seek to deliver on our three core values: Quality, Connection, and Fun” said Tammy.
