Michael Freeman (Class of 2015) acknowledges that the drive and determination needed to fulfil his goals was due to his time at school. Freeman recently achieved gaining his Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL) which will allow him to pilot passenger jets.

After graduation, Michael studied a Bachelor of Aviation at the University of Southern Queensland and then moved to Adelaide to complete his Commercial Pilot License and Multi-Engine Instrument Rating. Whilst completing his ATPL, Michael enjoyed being a Jump Pilot for Sydney Skydivers transporting adventure seekers into the skies. Michael has given praise to his former school in giving him the belief and support that have resulted in his achievements.

“I believe my time spent at Ipswich Grammar amongst passionate teaching staff and students provided me with the drive to work hard at my career,” stated Michael. “I was proud to list Ipswich Grammar School as my education in the respective interviews I have attended and believe it has had a positive effect in the minds of those interviewing.”

Freeman is now contemplating between two seperate job offers after receiving opportunities from both Qantaslink (Qantas Group) based in Australia as a First Officer, and with Cathay Pacific Airways, based in Hong Kong.
