Old Boys’ Day at Football and Tennis

Old Boys’ Day at Football and Tennis

It was great to see another large turnout of Old Boys at the GPS home round for Football and Tennis on the weekend for the first Old Boys’ Day of the year. Held at the IGS Sporting fields at Brassall the round combined with the annual Junior Spartan Day which resulted in a day that celebrated the entire Ipswich Grammar community and had a great atmosphere for all involved.

The Old Boys enjoyed a gourmet BBQ whilst spectating our current boys take on Gregory Terrace in the last home game of the season. It was very encouraging to see so many of our younger Old Boys support the day and show their pride in wearing the red and white. The First XI have continued on with their 2017 Premiership winning form with a successful season this year and it has been very positive to have much support from the Old Boys at every home game. The main match against Gregory Terrace on the day was a well contested game but unfortunately the massive amount of support from the crowd couldn’t get the boys over the line with the result being a 1-1 draw. With Tennis fixtures happening prior and other football matches happening for the younger grades there was much to capture the interest for the spectators.

The Old Boys’ event schedule still has much to occur and all Old Boys are encouraged to set aside the following dates.

26th July               Old Boys’ Business Breakfast featuring Matt Hood of Rugby Farm

11th August          Old Boys’ Day at Rugby and Basketball
