The school is excited to announce that a modern state of the art STEM building will be the next addition to the school facilities and open many opportunities to the students.
The building will incorporate the education of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and will house numerous laboratories, lecture theatre, and plans for an interactive workshop space. In the school’s encompassing Prep to Year 12 approach the junior school also have a dedicated classroom for the younger STEM students.
The news of this planned construction comes off the back of numerous renovations around the campus including synthetic turf laid in the main courtyard and junior school courtyard, an extension of sporting courts in the sports dome and an incredible new Junior School playground. The boys have been excited to see their play and lunch areas take on a vibrant new look and the parents are appreciating the school being in a stage of evolution in it’s approach to ‘Exceptional Performance’.
The STEM building is to be built where the current Arts block and Dining Room is located adjacent to Woodend Road, and the project is planned to commence after Term 4 finishes with demolition work to commence in November this year. Once completed construction will commence early 2019. Completion date is scheduled for later the same year.
To assist the project a Fundraising Campaign has been launched where the school is welcoming our Old Boys and members of the IGS community to be a part of this exciting phase of the school’s legacy.
