First XI dominate in front of Old Boys

The Red and White spirit was overflowing after the First XI Football team showed no mercy in their 7-1 win over BBC on Saturday. The enthusiastic crowd had a large contingent of Old Boys including many from the Class of 2018.

It was a beautiful autumn day and the crowd continued to build through the afternoon being treated to a number of matches leading up to the main game. The Firsts record this year has been extremely solid with three wins, one loss and one draw coming into Saturday’s match so went into the game quite confident. Both teams tested each other in the first 25 minutes until IGS pushed their advantage into half time with a 3-0 lead. The boys continued the pressure on BBC in the second half and the opposition had little answers to the Red and White attack conceding another four goals before the reprieve of the fulltime whistle.

The day also coincided with the Junior Spartan Day which is a great opportunity for our younger boys and their siblings enjoy face painting, rides and interaction with the Brisbane Roar mascot. Many Old Boys enjoyed bringing their families and enjoying a day with the IGS community.

Events coming up include the Old Boys’ After 5 at the Newstead Brewery in Milton and then Old Boys’ Day at the Rugby and Basketball.
