The most recent session of the successful Masterclass series looked at the world of Business, and students welcomed back Old Boys Barry McNamara (Class of 1961) and Charlie Mayne (Class of 2014) who answered questions relating to their own careers, in addition to the industry pathways that business can provide.
Barry has had a successful career in Agribusiness and Charlie is currently completing his degree whilst working for fellow Old Boy Andrew Kenman (Class of 1984) at LJ Hooker Real Estate in Ipswich. The current students had many questions for Charlie as they are nearing the time when they will be starting university and looking to complete their course selections for 2018. Both Old Boys stated that a background in business is transferable in nature to many other roles in other areas and that any student unsure of a chosen career path could not go wrong with starting along a business pathway.
The Masterclass series is proving to be a fantastic opportunity for students in years 10 to 12 and allows them to get a very realistic insight into an industry field. The informal nature of the sessions promotes a more relaxed atmosphere and there are always students wishing to stay behind after the class to ask more questions of the guests. The school will continue to host these classes and if you are keen to be involved or have a suggestion for an industry topic please contact Dave Rosenthal on firstname.lastname@example.org .
